33RD MixBrasil Festival of Culture and Diversity

MixBrasil is one of Brazil’s major LGBT+ cultural festivals, known for highlighting work around identity, desire and new forms of storytelling. It’s a long-running event that values innovation, inclusion and artistic experimentation.

SAKURA GANSHA won the Silver Rabbit for Best AI Film, which made me genuinely happy.  The jury described the piece as “a sensorial and poetic celebration of body, nature and desire, where flowers, fruit and movement form an intimate choreography of pleasure and renewal. The film uses AI not to replace the human gesture, but to expand textures, details and atmosphere, creating refined, aesthetically rich imagery that amplifies its delicacy. It offers a new way of perceiving desire by weaving technology, sensitivity and living matter into a precise and inspiring visual experience.”

Hearing such thoughtful feedback for a small film of ours was both surreal and encouraging. Very grateful it travelled this far.

New York Short Animation Festival

I still can’t quite believe it, SAKURA GANSHA won both Best AI Animation and Best AI Animation of the Year at the New York Short Animation Festival. I was honestly over the moon. It means a lot to have our work recognised by the organisers.

The two Bull trophies are beautifully made, and the festival itself was run in a very organised way. Communication with the team was smooth from start to finish.

All in all, a brilliant experience, and a very surreal reminder that our little films are somehow travelling further than we ever expected.

37è GIRONA FILM FESTIVAL

SAKURA GANSHA picked up an Honourable Mentionat the 37th Girona Film Festival, not just a nomination, but an actual award. It’s a lovely recognition from a festival known for valuing artistic merit, bold visual language and meaningful storytelling.

I was in Spain recently and had a very good seafood stew. Listening to the sea always makes me feel calm. It also made me wonder: if the Dutch hadn’t pushed the Spanish out back then, would Taiwan have ended up as a Spanish territory instead? A random thought, but quite funny to imagine.

SAKURA GANSHA at Tainan Summer Music Festival

Seeing SAKURA GANSHA on those massive screens, in front of tens of thousands of people, was honestly unreal, the whole thing looked ridiculously EPIC.

Oopsy ! live-action shoot

It was such a rare and brilliant experience, guiding the on-set team remotely throughout the shoot. I’m genuinely grateful to our on-site director, Chieh-Ming, to Parker, our producer who kept everything tightly organised, and to the entire production crew for making it all happen.

I really hope we’ll get the chance to put together a behind-the-scenes piece one day, so more people can see the stories that went into making this film.

Forward Festival Berlin

I teamed up with Ruby Nian on an AI experimental film ‘’ An Apple a Day, and You Obey ‘’, and it ended up being selected for Forward Festival Berlin and LTX Studio’s Berlin Beyond the Prompt.

The festival ran for two days and took place at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, so I took the chance to spend a week travelling around Germany. I absolutely loved the city, and with fewer tourists around, wandering about felt wonderfully relaxing.
